Visist to the Taveta rice milling plant
The County Assembly Committee on Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries today conducted a site visist to the Taveta rice milling plant to ascertain progress of the construction works of the plant.
Led by the Chairperson, Hon. Stephen Nzai, the Committee established that the construction is at 80% completion, with equipment already being fitted.
The Committee also visited the site of the construction of the Taveta banana processing plant and noted that it is still stalled for several years and part of the buildings’ roofs and gate had been vandalised and stollen.
The Committee visit was necessitated by the UDA Nominated MCA Hon. Sakina Kusania’s Statement sought on the Floor of the House regarding the status of the two factories in Taveta Sub-County, where she noted that the projects’ completion delays have led to local residents’ decrying value for money of the projects and their long awaited market and value addition centre for their farm produce.
