The Taita Taveta County Assembly is among the 47 public entities that have recently being born in the Country, courtesy of devolution, whose positive impact the Citizens of this nation are already experiencing and enjoying.
Public access to information and participation is a very important aspect of governance that is entrenched in the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, Chapter 8, Section 118. This website is therefore one of the very key tools that the County Assembly of Taita Taveta will use to provide all our electorate, within and without the County, an opportunity to access information on and follow the happenings and proceedings of this Assembly, ranging from Bills passed, Motions debated and passed, petitions handled, and other functions that will be of interest to the Mwananchi that we represent. By visiting our website, you are not just limited to access of information, but through our interactive section, you can actually participate in governance by asking questions and giving your input in matters that you need to contribute to.
Besides merely providing information to the Mwanachi, the website will also help us to be accountable as leaders, as required of us in Chapter two, Section 10 (2) (b) in the principles of governance, by letting you know what we do. This is what we call democracy which enhances and strengthens devolution.
I, therefore, encourage you to visit our website regularly and acquaint yourself with what we do, through our Order Papers, the Hansard Reports, key committee reports and the several trackers available.
As a First Assembly, we are determined to set a precedence of leadership that shall be remembered and inspire the Assemblies to come through quality legislation and debates, effective representation of the people and oversight as mandated by the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
Feel free to be part of this noble course.
The Taita Taveta County Assembly is your House!
